West Grace Street off Monument Ave.

When I returned this client I thought I had the wrong number. I heard, “You have reached….Mr. Magic.” After I met this fun couple, I learned he was a schoolteacher who in his spare time does talent shows for children young and old.

This slate dry lay terrace emerged with a wave of the shovel!

The process was to:

  • Design a plan and great shape for the patio
  • Spray paint the outline
  • Dig out a base for the terrace
  • Lay gravel and tamp it down
  • Lay crusher and tamp it down
  • Lay black slate- 24” by 24” on the diagonal with 18”by 12” perimeter stones
  • Lay stone for “hallway’ directly out the back door, which mimics the large seating area by using smaller 18” by 18” pieces.
  • Plant Hicks yews and oak leaf hydrangeas to buffer the AC unit and fence.

Ta dah!
