Thanksgiving 2024

Pollinators as A Side Dish ?

I hope to add a chuckle to your weekend by showing you a picture of a pollinator-eating animal.

The nectar of this Red Hot Poker perennial (Knifophia) seems to be a treat for the Ethiopian wolf.

It is the first time a species has been discovered as eating fruit and becoming an unexpected pollinator. Maybe we should include this bloom as an aperitif, a steamed side dish,  or at least a secret ingredient in our stuffing this holiday.

The bitter dandelion weed from your not so perfect lawn might also be a novel side salad, or the segue for a start-up conversation at the dinner table.

All in all, I wish you a fun, safe relaxing Thanksgiving.

I have a lot of blog ideas I have been researching this past month, and will continue  writing about in December for Christmas ideas.  I got way-laid knitting a baby blanket for my not-yet-born grandson in Colorado. It has so many flaws! I’ll be knitting a blue border for it on the plane. I have  to remember it as ‘one- of- a- kind’ blanket, filled with love…all the important things for this holiday season.

Many Blessings to you and yours.
