Walkway to Garbage Cans

If you can keep garbage cans and HVAC equipment out of sight from the garden space- that is good! This client hid her garbage cans around the corner.

To make a nice stepping stone path, clear the space and rake flat any dirt or gravel. Tamp down the area so it is firm and flat. Place stepping-stones in a single line or the “funky” approach you see here.

After you have decided exactly where you want the stone, pick each one up dig down about 1-2 inches. This way the stone won’t settle or rock with time. Place stone dust under each stone in precisely the same shape as the stone.

For shady spots, mundo grass is a great ground cover to surround stone in the shade. For sun you can use thyme or stoppable herbs.
